Shoonya - 1/2 yard

This cloth is screen printed by hand in the gorgeous city of Kolkata (India). An absolute haven for chai drinkers, it is known for its writers, sweets and its love for art. The base fabric is a light weight cotton made of conventional Indian cotton. For screen printing we use only azo-free dyes. Some azo dyes are carcinogens. Such dyes cause harm to the dyers, the environment and to the person whose skin comes in contact with it. This is serious business. The European Union has banned azo dyed products but somehow in the United States they are sold aplenty. Thought you should know.

Note: The printing is done on what is called a dobby stripe fabric. There is texture because of the running white threads all over. It's lovely!
